Together, we have successfully implemented another life-changing water project!

We are proud to have launched the ENKARƎ Water Bottling Initiative, a women-led program that is saving lives by providing clean water to the local community, creating economic opportunities by employing Maasai women, and generating income to drill more water wells.

This isn’t just about clean water. It’s about uplifting the Maasai people, particularly women and girls, while safeguarding their ancient heritage for a sustainable future. This innovative water project has the potential to solve the water crisis for the Maasai people. Every bottle of ENKARƎ Water sold will fund new clean water wells and create employment for Maasai women.

Thanks to your support, MCV has provided safe water to over 80,000 Maasai people to date.

But we’re not done yet. Many Maasai people still lack access to safe water, and we have numerous villages on our waiting list that urgently need life-saving water. We need your continued support to ensure every Maasai person has access to clean water.

Highlights of Our ENKARƎ Water Bottling Initiative in 2024

Drilled a Deep High-Quality Water Well

MCV successfully drilled a deep well at it’s Maasai Cultural Center in Amboseli, tapping into the mineral-rich aquifer from the iconic Mount Kilimanjaro. This pure water meets water quality standards set by the FDA in the US right from the source and is currently producing an impressive 28,000 liters of water per hour, with the potential to upgrade and produce even more water in the future. This water provides more than enough to sustain the Amboseli community—it also has the potential to be bottled and shared with the world.

Constructed a Water Bottling Facility

MCV built a water bottling facility with three dedicated rooms for water filling, bottle storage, and distribution. The facility also includes a sanitation room to ensure a safe and clean environment for employees, along with electricity and Wi-Fi to support smooth business operations.

Uplift Maasai Women with Entrepreneurship Training

ENKARƎ Water is more than just about providing clean water—it’s about creating economic opportunities and fostering entrepreneurship for women who have often been excluded from society due to limited access to education and literacy. All profits are reinvested into Maasai community development projects, promoting economic resilience and financial stability. MCV provided entrepreneurship training for Maasai women to gain the skills needed to manage and operate the water bottling business, empowering women to take leadership roles and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

Established an Influential Maasai Water Brand “ENKARƎ”

Through our entrepreneurship training, Maasai women collaborated to create the ENKARƎ brand, the final product, “ENKARƎ,” meaning “WATER” in the Maasai language, prominently features Mount Kilimanjaro, a spiritual symbol of Maasai culture. We successfully designed labels and developed a website [EnkareWater.org] to market the water business. The ENKARƎ brand has become a source of pride for the Maasai people, reflecting their heritage and dedication to solving the water crisis in their communities.

Proudly Launched ENKARƎ at the Indigenous Forum

MCV showcased this innovative water initiative to an international audience at its Indigenous Sustainable Design Forum in San Diego! We gathered valuable feedback and celebrated the progress we made in 2024. With your continued support, we are excited for the journey ahead as we further develop this water project to support more communities with clean water access and work toward establishing a reputable water company that will save lives.

What’s Next in 2025?

MCV is preparing to officially launch and sell ENKARƎ Water in 2025 in Kenya, but we need your help to get there. With your support, we’ll:

Expanding Clean Water Access

We aim to expand clean water access to more villages and towns by distributing water via truck and installing pipelines to nearby communities. With many communities still on our waiting list, we are seeking generous donors and partners to expand clean water access to new villages. The ENKARƎ Water program has the potential to reach tens of thousands more Maasai in the region and expand globally.

Securing Government Licensing for Expansion

We are working to gain government licensing to sell ENKARƎ Water in stores and hotels across Kenya, with plans to expand to other countries in the future.

Empowering More Maasai Women through Entrepreneurship

We will train more Maasai women in entrepreneurship to help grow this water program as a sustainable business. By providing entrepreneurship training to manage and operate the water business, we will create jobs for women, empowering women to uplift their families and communities.
