Maasai-Led Actions are Critical to Protecting the Maasai

COVID-19 spares no culture. The Maasai face other life challenging factors such as chronic poverty, inadequate health care, illiteracy and a lack of running water in addition to the pandemic. Maasai-led Covid 19 education and music are key to protect them from the pandemic.

The Maasai Utilize PPE, Sanitation Training and the Corona Lion Song to Prevent the Spread of COVID-19

The Maasai honor a verbal culture and music and radio are the medium of choice for the Maasai communities. Government health agency information is not conveyed in the the native Maa. Musa Nkonyoyo is a popular Maasai musician and has collaborated on a powerful Maasai song to educate his community on preventive measures for  COVID-19 using the symbolism of a lion. Maasai elders use the lion as a metaphor to teach the community:  Like Covid-19, the lion is always there,  is deadly and strikes when least expected.

Your generous donations will provide COVID-19 infection prevention through Maasai music, educational training and brochures in Maa language, masks, food relief, handwashing stations and sanitation equipment to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Our initial goal is funding 10 villages (5000+ people).  Each village will equip 500+ people and they will educate their neighbors.  Additional funds raised will go to additional village coverage.
