Maa-Cycles Bike Program
Maa-Cycles is MCV’s new bike program bringing safe, reliable transportation to Maasai families living along the Amboseli wildlife corridor while creating new opportunities in health, education, conservation, and tourism. Thanks to generous supporters, we delivered 110 donated bicycles to the Maasai community through a bike drive — distributing many to families and reserving 40 bikes for a community bike library at the Maasai Heritage Center.
This bike library is the beginning of a community mobility program; expanding education access, reducing risk along wildlife routes, improving daily health, and creating a new Maasai-led bike tourism experience where visitors can explore Amboseli alongside Maasai guides while supporting local livelihoods.
Over 300 Maasai students have already requested bikes to help them reach school safely
In Amboseli, the road to school is shared with elephants & wildlife. A bicycle turns long, risky walks through wildlife corridors into faster, safer journeys to school, markets, water, and work with peace of mind.
How Bikes Change Daily Life for the Maasai
Bike Tourism & Economic Growth
Maasai-led bike tours offer a culturally inspired visitor experience on the outskirts of Amboseli National Park; building friendships, sharing Maasai heritage, and generating income that supports Maasai families and long-term community development through the tourism sector.
Healthy Sustainable Transportation
Riding bikes improves health and provides a low-cost, low-carbon way to travel benefiting people, the environment, and the rich Amboseli ecosystem.
Safer & Faster Travel
Bicycles shorten long walks through wildlife corridors, helping students and families travel faster and safer to school, work, and daily needs.
Build Confidence
Learning to ride builds freedom and self-confidence, especially for youth and women, supporting a healthier lifestyle.
Donate Today & Make Bikes Possible for Maasai Students
MCV needs to raise $5,000 to launch phase one of the Maa-Cycles Bike Program & Library. Your generous gift will provide safe transportation for students traveling through the wildlife corridor, strengthen community health, and create Maasai-led tourism opportunities that improve livelihoods.
